Stark's Lark

Spizocorys starki (Shelley, 1902)

Stark's Lark, Spizocorys starki, is a lark in the family Alaudidae that breeds in western Angola and central South Africa. It is also known as Stark's short-toed lark. The species was described by Shelley in 1902. It is associated with dry savannah and dry shrubland, and it is found across Angola, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. The bird has a pale, medium-small form, a stout bill that looks slightly swollen, sandy-brown upperparts with fine streaking, a pale eyebrow, whitish underparts with light streaking, and a raised streaked crest.
