Stejneger's Scoter

Stejneger's Scoter is a medium-sized sea duck found in the North Pacific. The male has striking black plumage with a white patch around the eye and a bright yellow knob at the base of the bill. The female is dark brown with a paler face. These ducks are primarily found in coastal marine habitats, often seen in nearshore waters and bays. They are strong divers and feed on mollusks, crustaceans, and small fish. Stejneger's Scoter is considered a species of least concern by the IUCN, with stable populations and no immediate threats to its survival.
