Stephen's Lorikeet

Vini stepheni

Stephen's Lorikeet is a small, brightly colored parrot species endemic to the islands of Fiji. It has a predominantly green plumage with a red forehead, blue crown, and yellow markings on the wings and tail. These social birds are often found in pairs or small flocks and are known for their playful and acrobatic behavior. They primarily feed on nectar, pollen, and fruits, using their specialized brush-tipped tongues to extract nectar from flowers. Their habitat is mainly in tropical forests, coconut plantations, and gardens across the Fijian islands. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the conservation status of Stephen's Lorikeet is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
