Stock Dove

Stock Dove Columba oenas breeds in the western and south-western Palearctic, and is a pigeon in the family Columbidae. It is a bird of open wooded country, and also occurs on coasts where cliffs offer nesting places. Its nest is usually placed in a cavity, most often in an old tree, though it also uses burrows, ruins, cracks in rock, ivy, thick growth around tree bases and nest boxes. It is a double-brooded species and prefers to nest close together. The bird was first described by Linnaeus in 1758.
