Columba oenas
The Stock Dove (Columba oenas) is a small, migratory bird species belonging to the family Columbidae. It is characterized by its greyish plumage, pinkish breast, and iridescent green and purple neck patches. Stock Doves are commonly found in woodlands, farmlands, and open country across Europe and western Asia. They often nest in tree holes and feed on seeds, grains, and small insects. The species is known for its gentle cooing calls and swift, direct flight. Stock Doves are generally monogamous and form strong pair bonds. Although their population is currently stable, potential threats include habitat loss and hunting.
