Streak-backed Antshrike, Thamnophilus insignis, is a passerine bird of the antbird family that breeds in north-central Amazonia, mainly in Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela. It was described by Salvin and Godman in 1884. The species is tied to humid montane evergreen forest, especially the understorey and mid-storey, and also uses bamboo thickets and Brocchinia scrub. It is marked by a black-and-white pattern with a white patch on the upper back, and the sexes differ slightly. Two subspecies are recognised, with one restricted to the Cerro Sipapo massif.
