Streak-backed Tit-Spinetail

Leptasthenura striata (Philippi & Landbeck, 1863)

Streak-backed Tit-Spinetail, Leptasthenura striata, is a passerine of the ovenbird family that breeds in western Peru and north-west Chile. It lives on the west side of the Andes, mainly in dry mountain scrub, including areas with cacti and bromeliads, and also in Polylepis woodland. It is a year-round resident across its range. The bird is a small, long-tailed furnariid with a short bill, and the sexes look alike. Its tail feathers end in bare shafts, which give the tail a spiny look.
