Streak-necked Flycatcher

Mionectes striaticollis

The Streak-necked Flycatcher is a small, insectivorous bird found in the forests and woodlands of South America. It is characterized by its olive-green upperparts, yellowish throat, and streaked breast. This species is known for its distinctive call, a sharp 'wheet' or 'pseet' sound. Streak-necked Flycatchers forage for insects by making short sallies from perches, often catching prey in mid-air. They build cup-shaped nests in trees and shrubs, where they lay their eggs. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and deforestation are potential threats to their populations.
