Streaked Puffbird

Nystalus striolatus

The Streaked Puffbird (Nystalus striolatus) is a medium-sized bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive appearance, with a brownish plumage adorned with streaks and spots. This species is often observed perched motionless on branches, waiting to pounce on its insect prey. Streaked Puffbirds are cavity nesters and typically lay 2-3 eggs in their nests. They have a unique call that consists of a series of low, guttural notes. Despite their relatively wide distribution, their population trend is unknown, and more research is needed to understand their conservation status.
