Calamanthus fuliginosus (Vigors & Horsfield, 1827)

Striated Fieldwren, Calamanthus fuliginosus, is a passerine of the Acanthizidae family that breeds in south-eastern Australia and Tasmania. It lives in dense heath, grassland and salt marsh, and is most often found in coastal areas. The bird is hard to see because it keeps low in thick cover or on the ground. When disturbed, it raises its tail and may flick it from side to side before moving off. In spring, males sing from higher perches in vegetation, and the species is also heard through winter and spring.
