Striated Grassbird

Laticilla burnesii

The Striated Grassbird (Laticilla burnesii) is a small passerine bird found in the grasslands and marshes of South and Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its streaked brown plumage, long tail, and a distinctive white eyebrow stripe. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Striated Grassbirds are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense grass and reed beds. They build their cup-shaped nests close to the ground, hidden within the dense vegetation. The population of Striated Grassbirds is declining due to habitat loss and degradation, particularly in areas where wetlands are being drained for agricultural development.
