Striated Starling

Striated Starling, Aplonis striata, is a starling of the family Sturnidae found in New Caledonia, including the Loyalty Islands. It is endemic to this part of Australasia. The species was first described by Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1788. Two subspecies are recognised: Aplonis striata striata on Grande Terre and Île des Pins, and Aplonis striata atronitens on Ouvéa, Lifou and Maré. Its scientific name is Aplonis striata.
