Crypturellus strigulosus
The Stripe-faced Wood Quail is a small, ground-dwelling bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It has a distinctive striped face and a mottled brown plumage that provides excellent camouflage on the forest floor. These birds are primarily herbivorous, feeding on fallen fruits, seeds, and insects. They are known for their secretive nature, often remaining hidden in dense undergrowth. The Stripe-faced Wood Quail forms monogamous pairs and nests on the ground, producing small clutches of eggs. Due to habitat loss and hunting, their populations are declining in some areas.
