Stripe-headed Woodcreeper

Pseudocolaptes lawrencii

The Stripe-headed Woodcreeper (Pseudocolaptes lawrencii) is a medium-sized bird found in the highlands of Costa Rica and western Panama. It is known for its distinctive plumage, with a striped head, brown upperparts, and buffy underparts. This woodcreeper is often observed foraging for insects and spiders in the dense undergrowth of montane forests. It is a solitary and elusive bird, typically seen alone or in pairs. The Stripe-headed Woodcreeper is known for its distinctive vocalizations, including a series of high-pitched notes. Despite its limited range, the species is not currently considered to be at risk, and its population appears to be stable.
