Striped Crake

Paragallinula angulata

The Striped Crake (Paragallinula angulata) is a small, secretive bird found in wetlands and marshy areas of South America. This species is characterized by its distinctive black and white striped plumage, short tail, and red bill. The Striped Crake is a proficient swimmer and is often observed foraging for invertebrates and small fish in shallow water. Its shy and elusive nature makes it a challenging bird to spot in the wild. The Striped Crake is known for its high-pitched calls and is most active during the early morning and late evening. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose potential risks to its future survival.
