Subantarctic Snipe, Coenocorypha aucklandica, breeds on New Zealand’s subantarctic islands in the Auckland, Antipodes and Campbell groups. It is a snipe in the sandpiper family, and its range includes the Auckland Islands apart from the main island, the Antipodes Islands and Campbell Island / Motu Ihupuku. The species was described by Gray, GR, in 1845. It is also known as Auckland snipe or New Zealand snipe, and the Māori name given for it is Tutukiwi.
