Sula Fruit Dove

Ptilinopus mangoliensis (Rothschild, 1898)

Sula Fruit Dove, Ptilinopus mangoliensis, is a bird of the Sula Islands, where it is found in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is a member of the dove family and is restricted to that island group. The species was once placed in Ptilinopus, but later work led to its transfer to Ramphiculus as part of a wider effort to make the genera more natural groupings. Its presence in forest habitat on the Sula Islands is affected by habitat loss.
