Megapodiidae — Megapodes

Sula Megapode, Megapodius bernsteinii, is a bird of the Megapodiidae family that breeds in Australasia on the Banggai and Sula Islands east of Sulawesi. It was described by Schlegel in 1866. The species is tied to lowland forest, dense scrub beside forest, and farmland edges, and it is known only from these islands. Its breeding site is a mound built from sand and clay, often over rotting logs, where the female lays her eggs and covers them with soil.
