Sula Myzomela

Myzomela batjanensis

The Sula Myzomela (Myzomela batjanensis) is a small passerine bird native to the Sula Islands in Indonesia. It is characterized by its vibrant red plumage, with the male having a brighter red coloration than the female. This species is known for its agile flight and melodious song, often found in the forest canopy or near flowering plants. Sula Myzomelas primarily feed on nectar, insects, and small fruits, using their slender, curved bills to extract nectar from flowers. They are known to be territorial and defend their feeding and breeding areas vigorously. Although not currently classified, the conservation status of the Sula Myzomela is considered to be of least concern due to its relatively stable population and wide distribution.
