The Sulawesi Coucal (Centropus celebensis) is a medium-sized bird native to the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. It is characterized by its distinctive black plumage with white streaks on the wings and tail. This species is known for its loud, deep call that resonates through the dense forests where it resides. The Sulawesi Coucal is primarily a ground-dwelling bird, foraging for insects, small vertebrates, and fruits in the underbrush. It is often found in lowland and montane forests, as well as secondary growth and agricultural areas. Despite facing habitat loss and degradation, the conservation status of the Sulawesi Coucal is currently categorized as Least Concern by the IUCN.
