Sulawesi Grasshopper Warbler

Locustella seebohmi

The Sulawesi Grasshopper Warbler (Locustella seebohmi) is a small, secretive bird species found in the dense undergrowth of montane forests and grassy areas on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. This warbler is known for its distinctive song, a series of high-pitched, insect-like trills. It has a cryptic plumage, with brown and buff tones that provide excellent camouflage in its preferred habitats. The Sulawesi Grasshopper Warbler forages for insects and small invertebrates on the forest floor, using its slender bill to probe through leaf litter and vegetation. Due to its elusive nature and remote habitat, this species is not well-studied, and its population status is currently unknown.
