Cuculus crassirostris
The Sulawesi Hawk-Cuckoo (Cuculus crassirostris) is a medium-sized cuckoo found in the forests of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is known for its distinct call, which is often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. This species has a predominantly brown plumage with a barred pattern on the underparts. It has a robust bill and a long tail, which aids in its agile movements through the forest canopy. The Sulawesi Hawk-Cuckoo is a brood parasite, laying its eggs in the nests of other bird species, particularly bulbuls and white-eyes. Despite its secretive nature, it is occasionally observed foraging for insects and caterpillars in the dense foliage.
