Sulawesi Nightjar

Caprimulgus solala

The Sulawesi Nightjar (Caprimulgus solala) is a nocturnal bird species found in the forests and woodlands of Sulawesi, Indonesia. This species is characterized by its cryptic plumage, large eyes, and wide gape, which it uses to catch flying insects at dusk and dawn. The Sulawesi Nightjar is a relatively small nightjar, measuring about 22-25 centimeters in length. Its plumage is mottled with shades of brown and gray, providing excellent camouflage against tree bark and leaf litter. Due to habitat loss and limited information, the conservation status of the Sulawesi Nightjar is currently classified as Data Deficient by the IUCN.
