Sulphur-vented Whistler

Pachycephala sulfuriventer

The Sulphur-vented Whistler (Pachycephala sulfuriventer) is a small to medium-sized songbird found in the forests and woodlands of New Guinea and nearby islands. It has a distinctive yellow vent and underparts, contrasting with its dark upperparts and head. The male has a black throat and face, while the female has a more subdued coloration. This species is known for its melodious whistling calls, often heard during the breeding season. It forages for insects and small fruits in the forest canopy and understory. The Sulphur-vented Whistler is not currently considered threatened, but habitat loss and degradation may pose future conservation challenges.
