Sulu Boobook, Ninox reyi, is an owl in the Strigidae family that breeds in the Sulu Archipelago in the southern Philippines. It was described by Oustalet in 1880. The bird is tied to tropical moist lowland forest, including primary and secondary woodland, and has also been recorded at forest edges, in clearings and plantations. On Tawi-Tawi it is found in mature mangroves and among large trees near villages. It is set apart by heavy barring on the head and belly, a white throat patch and facial disk, and a call made up of clucks rather than screeches.
