Sun Parakeet

Aratinga solstitialis

The Sun Parakeet, also known as the Sun Conure, is a vibrant and colorful bird native to northeastern South America. These small to medium-sized parakeets are known for their striking yellow and orange plumage, with splashes of green on their wings and tail. They are highly social and often found in flocks, displaying playful and energetic behaviors. Sun Parakeets inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, where they forage for fruits, seeds, and nuts. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, their population is declining, and they are classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
