Sunda Collared Dove

Streptopelia bitorquata (Temminck, 1809)

Sunda Collared Dove, Streptopelia bitorquata, is a bird of the Lesser Sundas in Indonesia, breeding from Java, Bali and Lombok east to Timor. It belongs to the pigeon and dove family and was described by Temminck in 1809. It is a small to medium-sized dove with a dark band across much of the neck and a pale mark above it, which helps separate it from the similar Eurasian Collared Dove. Its range also includes Komodo, Sumbawa, Flores and Solor, and it uses moist lowland forest and mangrove forest.
