Sunda Cuckooshrike

Coracina temminckii

The Sunda Cuckooshrike (Coracina temminckii) is a medium-sized bird found in the Sunda region of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive black and white plumage with a hooked bill and a prominent crest. This species is known for its melodious and varied calls, often heard in the dense canopy of lowland and hill forests. Sunda Cuckooshrikes are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the foliage. They are often observed in mixed-species foraging flocks, where they actively pursue prey in agile flight. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential conservation concerns for this species.
