Sunda Owlet Taenioptynx sylvaticus is an owl of montane Sumatra and montane Borneo in the Oriental Region. It belongs to the family Strigidae and was described by Bonaparte in 1850. It was once included with the collared owlet, but is now treated as a separate species. That change was made mainly because its vocalisation differs. Two subspecies are recognised: T. s. sylvaticus in montane Sumatra and T. s. borneensis in montane Borneo.
