Sunda Pied Flycatcher

Muscicapa segregata

The Sunda Pied Flycatcher (Muscicapa segregata) is a small passerine bird found in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. It has a distinctive black and white plumage, with a black head, back, and wings, and a white belly and underparts. This species is known for its agile aerial foraging behavior, catching insects in mid-air. It prefers dense tropical forests and can often be found near streams or clearings. The Sunda Pied Flycatcher is known for its melodious song, which it uses to attract mates and defend its territory. Although not currently classified by the IUCN, its population is believed to be stable.
