Sunda Whistling-Thrush

Ianthocincla lunulata

The Sunda Whistling-Thrush, scientifically known as Ianthocincla lunulata, is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and wooded areas of Southeast Asia. It is known for its melodious whistling calls that echo through the dense vegetation. This species has a distinctive dark blue plumage with a contrasting white crescent-shaped patch on its chest. The Sunda Whistling-Thrush forages for insects, fruits, and small vertebrates on the forest floor and is often observed near streams and water bodies. It plays a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of its habitat through seed dispersal and insect control.
