The Sunda Woodpecker (Psilopogon incognitus) is a medium-sized woodpecker found in the Sundaic region of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive black and white plumage with a red crown and nape. This species is known for its rhythmic drumming on trees as it forages for insects and larvae. The Sunda Woodpecker prefers primary and tall secondary forests, where it can be found in the canopy and mid-levels of the trees. It is also known to inhabit forest edges and clearings. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the conservation status of the Sunda Woodpecker is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
