Superb Fairywren

Malurus cyanocephalus

The Superb Fairywren is a small, insect-eating bird native to Australia. Males are known for their striking blue and black plumage during the breeding season, while females and non-breeding males have predominantly brown and gray feathers. These birds are highly social and live in family groups, foraging for insects and seeds in dense vegetation. They are known for their intricate and melodious songs, often performed by males to attract mates. Superb Fairywrens are commonly found in scrublands, heathlands, and coastal dunes across southern Australia.
