Surinam becard

Pachyramphus surinamus

The Surinam becard (Pachyramphus surinamus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is known for its distinctive black cap and white throat, with a grayish body and black wings. This species is often observed foraging for insects in the middle and upper canopy of the forest, using its sharp bill to capture prey. The Surinam becard is a solitary bird, typically seen in pairs or small family groups. It builds its cup-shaped nest in the understory of the forest, using plant fibers and spider silk. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and deforestation pose potential risks to its population.
