Chiroxiphia caudata
The Swallow-tailed Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of South America. Males are known for their striking black and turquoise plumage, with a long, deeply forked tail. They are renowned for their elaborate courtship displays, where males perform acrobatic dances to attract females. These birds feed on fruits and insects and are often found in the lower levels of the forest. Swallow-tailed Manakins play an important role in seed dispersal and contribute to the health of their forest habitats. Despite facing habitat loss and fragmentation, they are currently not considered to be at immediate risk, and their populations are relatively stable.
