Uropsalis segmentata (Cassin, 1849)
Swallow-tailed Nightjar, Uropsalis segmentata, is a nightjar of the Andes in South America, breeding from Colombia to central Bolivia. It is placed in the family Caprimulgidae and was described by Cassin in 1849. The male is marked by very long outer tail feathers, which give the bird its name, while the female has a much shorter, less stepped tail. The species occurs in elfin forest, along humid montane forest edges, and in openings with bamboo, grass or shrubs.
