Swinhoe's Pheasant

Lophura swinhoii

Swinhoe's Pheasant is a striking bird native to the forests of Taiwan and China. It is known for its distinctive plumage, with the male displaying a combination of iridescent blue, green, and black feathers, while the female has a more subdued brown plumage. These pheasants are ground-dwelling birds, foraging for seeds, fruits, and insects in the dense undergrowth. They are known for their secretive nature and are often difficult to spot in the wild. Swinhoe's Pheasant is facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, and conservation efforts are underway to protect its remaining populations.
