Sykes's Warbler

Iduna rama (Sykes, 1832)

Sykes's Warbler, Iduna rama, breeds in Kazakhstan and western China south to Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and spends the non-breeding season in southern Pakistan and India. It is a passerine in the Acrocephalidae, the reed warbler family and allies. The bird was once treated as part of the booted warbler, but is now recognised as a separate species. It is a small warbler of open country with bushes and other tall vegetation, and its nest is placed in a bush or similar growth. It is larger and greyer than the booted warbler, with a strong, pointed bill.
