Taiwan Hwamei, Garrulax taewanus, is a passerine of the family Leiothrichidae found in Taiwan. It lives in secondary woodland in foothills and lower mountain areas, reaching 1,200 metres above sea level. Endemic to the island, it was described by Swinhoe in 1859 and later recognised as a separate species from the Chinese hwamei. It is distinguished by the absence of the white eye-markings shown by that species, and by its grey-brown plumage with strong streaking on the crown, nape and back, plus fine streaking below.
