Carterornis castus (Sclater, PL, 1883)
Tanimbar Monarch, Carterornis castus, is a monarch in the family Monarchidae that breeds in the Tanimbar Islands of the southern Moluccas in Australasia. It is endemic to Indonesia and is confined to that island group. The bird was described by Sclater, PL, in 1883. It was once placed in Monarcha, but in 2009 it was transferred to Carterornis. It was also formerly treated as part of the white-naped monarch, C. pileatus, before being recognised as a separate species.
