Tawny-bellied Toucanet

Aulacorhynchus huallagae

The Tawny-bellied Toucanet (Aulacorhynchus huallagae) is a medium-sized toucan found in the montane cloud forests of the Andes in central Peru. It has a distinctive tawny belly and a black head with a yellow throat. The upperparts are mainly green with red undertail coverts. This species is known for its vocalizations, which include a variety of croaks, rattles, and yelps. Tawny-bellied Toucanets primarily feed on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates, and they play an important role in seed dispersal within their forest habitat.
