Tawny-breasted Parrotfinch, Erythrura hyperythra, is a waxbill of the Philippines, Malaysia, Java, Sulawesi and the western Lesser Sundas. It occurs in the Oriental Region and Australasia, where it uses montane forests, bamboo stands, scrub, grassy openings, forest margins and some farmed areas. Its plumage is emerald green with an orange face and breast, and both sexes show a blue forehead patch, which is stronger in males. Five subspecies are recognised, with a possible split between the Javan and Philippine populations.
