Tawny-browed Owl, Pulsatrix koeniswaldiana, is a bird of the owl family that breeds in south-east Brazil, eastern Paraguay and north-east Argentina. It is a forest species of humid tropical woodland, open woodland and Araucaria-dominated forest. Its most distinctive feature is the pale brow pattern over chestnut-brown eyes, set on a brown face with an ochre border and a white chin patch. The breast, upperparts and tail are dark chocolate brown, with white bars on the tail, while the belly is buff and the remaining underparts are light ochre.
