Tawny-crested Tanager
Tachyphonus delatrii
The Tawny-crested Tanager (Tachyphonus delatrii) is a small songbird found in the tropical forests of South America. It is characterized by its striking plumage, with a tawny crest and bright red underparts. The upperparts are predominantly black, creating a beautiful contrast with the vibrant colors on the bird's head and chest. These tanagers are often observed foraging in the mid to upper levels of the forest, where they feed on insects and fruits. Their melodious songs can be heard echoing through the dense foliage. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss poses a potential risk to their populations.
