Odontophorus dialeucos
The Tawny-faced Quail, scientifically known as Odontophorus dialeucos, is a small ground-dwelling bird found in the mountainous regions of South America. It is characterized by its tawny face, brown and black mottled plumage, and distinctive white throat. These birds are often found in dense undergrowth and forest edges, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and insects. Tawny-faced Quails are known for their secretive nature and are often heard rather than seen. They have a unique call that echoes through the forest understory. Due to habitat loss and hunting pressure, their populations are declining in some areas.
