The Tawny-faced Quail, also known as the Tawny-breasted Tinamou, is a small ground-dwelling bird found in the highlands of Mexico and Central America. It is characterized by its tawny face and breast, with intricate black and white markings on its plumage. This species is known for its secretive nature, often remaining hidden in dense undergrowth. Tawny-faced Quails primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and insects. They are typically found in montane forests and cloud forests, where they forage on the forest floor. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the conservation status of the Tawny-faced Quail is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
