Alopochelidon fucata (Temminck, 1822)

Tawny-headed Swallow, Alopochelidon fucata, is a hirundine of South America, breeding from Bolivia through south-central Brazil to northern Argentina. It is the only member of its genus. The species was first described by Temminck in 1822. It lives in open tropical and subtropical country, especially where there are small waters, streamside clearings, pampas, and wet or flooded grassland. Its breeding range also includes Uruguay and parts of central Argentina. Nests are cup-shaped and built from leaves, feathers and straw in burrows or holes beside rivers, streams and ditches.
