Nectariniidae — Sunbirds

Tboli Sunbird, Aethopyga tibolii, is a passerine of the sunbird family found in montane parts of south Mindanao in the southern Philippines. It was described in 1997 by Kennedy, Gonzales and Miranda. The bird is restricted to mountain forest in the Oriental Region, and its known range is tied to tropical moist montane habitat from 800 metres upwards. It was once treated as part of the Apo Sunbird, but is now recognised separately. The name honours the Tboli people of southern Mindanao.
