Temminck's Stint

Calidris temminckii

Temminck's stint is a small migratory wader bird that breeds in the tundra of northern Europe and Asia. During the non-breeding season, it can be found in freshwater marshes, mudflats, and coastal areas in Africa, southern Asia, and Australasia. This species has a distinctive appearance with a brown and white mottled plumage, a short straight bill, and yellowish legs. Temminck's stint forages for insects, crustaceans, and other invertebrates in shallow water by rapidly pecking and probing. It is known for its long migratory flights, often traveling thousands of kilometers between its breeding and wintering grounds.
