Temminck's Sunbird
Aethopyga temminckii
Temminck's Sunbird is a small, colorful bird found in the montane forests and adjacent habitats of Southeast Asia. The male is adorned with iridescent green and purple plumage, while the female has olive-green upperparts and yellow underparts. This species is known for its acrobatic flight and its habit of feeding on nectar from various flowers. It also consumes small insects as a source of protein. The breeding season often coincides with the flowering of specific plant species, and the female constructs a cup-shaped nest using plant fibers and spider silk. Despite its vibrant appearance, the Temminck's Sunbird is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation.
