Polytmus milleri (Chapman, 1929)

Tepui Goldenthroat, Polytmus milleri, is a hummingbird of the tepuis in Venezuela, western Guyana and extreme northern Brazil. It is tied to isolated flat-topped mountains, where it uses the margins of cloudforest and scrub with scattered trees. The species is restricted to this South American range and is known only from these upland areas. It was once treated in a separate genus before being placed in Polytmus. The bird is monotypic, and its breeding range lies across the tepuis of southern and south-eastern Venezuela, extending a little into the neighbouring countries.
